Wholesale electricity prices have dropped by 65% when compared with the peak in August 2022.

Wholesale electricity prices increased by over 42% in the year to June

However, in the month to June, wholesale electricity prices fell by 6.2%.

WHOLESALE ELECTRICITY PRICES were over 42% higher last month when compared to June 2025.

That’s according to the wholesale price index for June 2026 which was today published by the Central Statistics Office (CSO).

But while wholesale electricity prices were up some 42.2% in the 12 months to June, they fell by 6.2% when compared with May, the month previous.

Wholesale electricity prices meanwhile have dropped by 65% when compared with the peak that occurred in August 2022.

Elsewhere, all energy fuels were down by 9% in June when compared with May, but up 24.5% when compared to the year before in June 2025.

This 9% drop in the month to June is largely driven by decreases in fuel oil (-10.2%) and gas oil (-8.2%).

Meanwhile, producer prices for food products increased by 2.9% in the 12 months to June and by 0.2% since May, while the Food Products, Beverages & Tobacco Index was up by 2.4%.

The most notable changes in producer prices for food products over the past 12 months were seen in fish and fish products, up 8.6%.

The most noteworthy changes in other producer prices in the year to June were chemicals and chemical products, up 11.9%, fabricated meal products, except Machinery & Equipment (+5.7%), and pulp, paper and paper products (+4.1%).

Wholesale prices for construction products remained unchanged in the month to June but rose by 3.1% in the 12 months since June 2025.
