Belfast residents evacuated for controlled explosion on car

Police said that most of the roads closed off during the incident have now repopened.

RESIDENTS IN THE Crumlin Road area of Belfast were evacuated from their homes during an early morning security operation as police examined a suspicious vehicle.

The alert began at about 6am and the PSNI said that residents were evacuated to a nearby community centre. There was a controlled explosion on the car and police are still at the scene.

All roads that were closed off during the incident have now reopened apart from the Hillview Road.
