Artists set to open homes to public in Belfast exhibition

The private homes of some of Belfast’s artists are open to the public this weekend. Just follow the yellow balloons.

ARTISTS ARE SET to open their homes to members of the public this weekend as part of the Household Contemporary Art Festival in Belfast.

Displaying a selection of their art in a domestic setting, the exhibition will allow artists to curate their works in their own homes.

The artists’ houses, all situated in the Ormeau area of South Belfast, are set to offer a mix of fine art, performance, live music, talks and discussions. The houses that are taking part will be identifiable by yellow balloons which will be hanging outside.

There are also outdoor events, including an alleyway screening of the documentary film Dark Days and a walking tour which showcases local architecture.

The exhibition comes less than a month before Culture Night on 21 September, where a series of free events around the country will include similar opening of artists’ workplaces, such as La Catedral Studios and New Art Studio.
