Boy, 10, finds suspected firearm in a field and takes it home

Police in the North say they are investigating the incident and examining the suspected firearm.

POLICE IN NORTHERN Ireland are investigating the circumstances surrounding the discovery of a suspected firearm by a 10-year-old boy in a field in Lurgan yesterday.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) say that the young boy found the suspected weapon in a field in the Colane Road area of Lurgan, Co Armagh yesterday afternoon.

He took the suspected firearm home before the police were called and recovered the device. It has since been passed to ammunition technical officers for further examination later today.

The PSNI have asked that anyone with information about this incident to contact Lurgan Police Station on 0845 600 8000. Those wishing to do so anonymously can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
