Three men charged in connection with cannabis seizure

Some 20 kilos of cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €400,000 was found during a search in Waterford.

THREE MEN HAVE been charged in connection with a seizure of  a substantial amount of cannabis herb in Waterford last month.

As part of an ongoing operation into criminal activity in the South-east of the country Gardaí from the Garda National Drugs Unit assisted by local Gardai from Waterford searched a house at The Crescent, Waterford City and seized 20 kilos of Cannabis herb with an approximate street value of €400,000 (pending analysis) on 30 November.

Five men in their 30s were arrested in connection with the seizure and they were taken to Waterford and Tramore Garda stations where they were detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking ) Act 1996.

Two males were released Friday evening without charge, the other three were charged and appeared this afternoon before a special sitting of Waterford District Court.

They were remanded in custody to appear before Waterford District Court on Tuesday 4 December at 10.30am.
