Child escapes attempted kidnapping in Bray

The ten-year-old girl says a man in a white car forced her into the back seat of the vehicle but she managed to escape. Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the alleged incident.

A TEN-YEAR-old girl says she escaped after being forced into the back seat of a car in Bray this morning, foiling a potential abduction.

The child was waiting for a friend on Boghall Road in Bray at around 8.30am this morning on her way to school when a man in a white car approached her. She says she was put into the back seat of the car but managed to escape at a set of traffic lights and raise the alarm. The car is described as new, and possibly a Volkswagen Golf.

A Garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that they are now investigating reports of the alleged abduction and are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or saw anything suspicious to contact them at Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.
