Do you want a more sustainable home? Allianz is committed to creating a secure future for homeowners

Here’s how Allianz are tackling climate change head on.

WE HEAR ABOUT sustainability and the importance of it on a daily basis these days. We all want to be more sustainable. But what about sustainability when it comes to our homes? How can we factor in the struggles our climate is facing when it comes to houses, and crucially, how can we learn more?

Knowing whether or not your home insurer is focusing on sustainability is a great way to start. In response to this ongoing challenge and to combat climate change, Allianz launched the Climate Safe Homes initiative to accelerate climate adaptive home building in Ireland. They are committed to developing innovative sustainable solutions and working with others across the financial services and home construction sectors to do this. So, what does that look like?

By bringing together experts from across construction, engineering, and architecture to develop a new home-building model explicitly designed to withstand the effects of our changing climate. As some of us may or may not know, there’s an Energy Performance of Buildings Directive, which will require all existing buildings to be zero-emission by 2050. The Allianz Climate Safe Homes initiative aims to help homeowners with achieving this.

This project is the first-of-its kind for the Irish insurance industry and by partnering with the Irish Green Building Council and other key stakeholders there’s high hopes for its success.

The Climate Safe Homes initiative is just one of Allianz Ireland’s commitments to help build a secure and sustainable future. Another key point to highlight is the Allianz Rebuild Better benefit, which is an exclusive benefit available to Allianz Home Insurance customers who have buildings cover. If you make a claim of €50,000 or more for buildings on your policy you will be offered €5,000* on top of your claim to make sustainable energy improvements to your home. The extra contribution provides a boost to SEAI grants that are already available and allows customers to choose from various energy upgrades, including heat pump installation, PV solar panels, and attic and wall insulation.

Allianz Ireland is making sustainability a priority by investing €1 million in projects like these.

To find out more about Allianz Ireland’s sustainability efforts you can head over to the Allianz Ireland 2023 Sustainability Brochure for an overview of the efforts and progress to-date.
