A MAN IN his 40s was taken to hospital with serious injuries following an alleged assault in Cork city last night.
Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who may have seen what happened on Quaker Road.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene following a report of the incident, which occurred at approximately 10pm.
The man was taken to Cork University Hospital for treatment and the scene was preserved for technical examination.
The road is currently closed and local diversions are in place, a Garda spokesperson said, adding that investigations were ongoing.
