Firefighters battle large blaze at Cork shopping centre

Several units from around Cork City are in attendance.

CORK CITY FIRE Brigade is working to tackle a large fire at Douglas Shopping Centre this evening.

The fire brigade said several units from around the city are in attendance.

“Crews are working very hard in heavy smoke and fire conditions to contain [the] fire,” it said.

The cause of the fire at the shopping centre is not yet clear. 

People are being asked to avoid the area to allow crews to access the building.
