Man in his 50s loses sight in one eye after serious assault in Cork pub

The assault happened in April.

A MAN IN his 50s has lost the sight in one eye after a serious assault in Cork city in April.

Gardaí in Watercourse Road are appealing for witnesses to the assault, which happened in the Chimes Bar on Church Street, off Shandon Street on the city’s northside, on Sunday, 16 April around 10pm.

It is understood the man was seriously assaulted in the bar and sources say that he has lost the sight in one eye.

Gardaí could not confirm the nature of the injuries but said they are “serious”.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing to any person who was in the premises on 16 April or to any person who can assist with the investigation to contact Watercourse Road Garda Station on 021-4558260, the Garda Confidential line 1 800 666 111 or any garda station.
