VIDEO: Dancing dolphins entertain researchers in Donegal

Whatever you did last Friday, it probably didn’t involve hanging out with 50 dolphins in Lough Swilly…

HERE, LITERALLY, is something you don’t see every day.

This video from researchers at the Irish Basking Shark Project shows a group of dolphins, estimated to be almost 50 in number, splashing about at Lough Swilly in Co Donegal.

A member of the research team told Irish Central that while seeing dolphins swimming in the area was not unusual, it was rare that such a large pod would be seen in Irish waters.

They added that the area has been particularly active this year – the group has already seen basking sharks and killer whales in the waters, as well as sunfish, seals and harbour porpoises.

More from the project’s ‘Deep Six’ YouTube account.
