Dublin Bus strike ends from tomorrow

The company has agreed to defer implementation of its cost-saving measures during negotiations with unions.

DUBLIN BUS EMPLOYEES will return to work tomorrow as unions and the company have agreed to enter into talks in the Labour Court.

A union source told that the Labour Court has intervened and asked unions to end the strike and resume services tomorrow morning.

The company has agreed to defer implementation of cost-saving measures during talks with unions.

Representatives from both SIPTU and the National Bus and Rail Union (NBRU) will meet with Dublin Bus representatives at the Labour Court at 9.30 am.

SIPTU sector organiser Willie Noone said the union welcomed the intervention of the Labour Court and that the dispute will “only be resolved through negotiation and discussion.”

In a statement, Dublin Bus also said it welcomed the invitation of the court to attend “exploratory talks”. “The company will work this evening to ensure that buses are ready to enter service from first bus tomorrow,” it said.

Drivers and other workers in Dublin Bus will return to depots in the morning and a full service will operate across the city.
