Clean-up operation underway after significant oil spill at Dublin port

The incident took place shortly after 8pm last night.

A CLEAN-UP operation is underway at Dublin Port after a significant oil spill last night.

The incident happened in an operational berth of the eastern Dublin Port estate at 8:05pm last night, 20 April, according to a statement from the port.

They confirmed that the spill is contained and was stopped at the source.

Dublin Port’s response teams remain at the site this morning and specialist contractors are present to manage and recover the spillage.

They have confirmed that the post’s shipping channel is largely unaffected as are leisure users.

Post customers, drivers and passengers are instructed to follow advice from terminal operators.

Dublin Port said they are prioritising safety and containment as the clean-up continues.

They are advising people to monitor www.dublinport.ie for further updates.
