Elderly woman killed in Laois crash

The woman in her eighties died when she lost control of her car in Stradbally.

A WOMAN IN her eighties has been killed after she lost control of her car in Stradbally, Co. Laois.

The single vehicle collision occurred at Windygap Road at around 11.30am this morning.

The woman was the sole occupant of the car. She was taken to Midlands Regional Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The road was closed for a time earlier to facilitate the work of Garda forensic collision investigators.

Gardaí in Portlaoise are investigating and are appealing for witnesses to come forward.
