'Loyalty me arse': Electric Picnic fans question 'loyalty scheme' after failing to secure tickets

Festivalgoers who expected to be able to use the EP’s ‘loyalty scheme’ to secure tickets were disappointed.

MANY ELECTRIC PICNIC veterans were left frustrated this morning after a long-running loyalty scheme giving previous attendees access to discounted tickets failed to secure them tickets.

However, within minutes, people found themselves in a queue of tens of thousands of people, with some not getting the chance to attempt to purchase a ticket until 10am.

The loyalty scheme has been around for a few years now. Basically, if you’ve been to Electric Picnic before, you can apply for a special code that lets you buy discounted tickets during the presale.

Electric Picnic says it’s their way of thanking returning fans, but they also make it clear: a code doesn’t guarantee you a ticket. It’s still first come, first served.

The issue today? Many past attendees who had applied for codes said they couldn’t actually use them once tickets went live.

Some also claimed that they were initially unable to access their codes, while others claimed that the codes “wouldn’t work”, leaving them stuck.

Plenty of people took to Electric Picnic’s socials to vent.

“Loyalty is a complete and utter joke! I logged in from 7.56am until 11am and got nothing,” one person wrote on Instagram.

“Loyalty me arse,” another added.

“How much more money has EP made due to people not being able to use their loyalty code to get a reduction?” a comment under a post by the official Electric Picnic account said.

Over on Reddit, a longtime fan who’s been going for 12 years said they were “gutted”.

“Online at 8.30am. Sold out. Didn’t get a ticket, never mind a loyalty one.”

Ticketmaster has been contacted for comment about customers’ experiences this morning.
