Poll: Should the sale of energy drinks to under-18s be banned?

The food safety watchdog is investigating the negative effects, but is it time to do away with them altogether?

IRELAND’S FOOD SAFETY watchdog is to investigate the negative effects of energy drinks.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) has found that energy drinks will become a significant public health problem if their use among young people is not addressed through a cap on caffeine levels and restrictions on their sale and marketing.

They have been linked to high blood pressure and suicides. Already, Latvia has made the drinks over-18s.

We’re asking: Should the sale of energy drinks to under-18s be banned?

Poll Results:

Yes (3744)
Ban them altogether (1610)
No (1416)
I don't know (291)
