FORMER TALKTALK EMPLOYEES will be provided with upskilling training as a result of a €250,000 investment by Skillnets.

The state-funded, enterprise-led body said it will commence training programmes for 270 workers immediately.

The training schemes will begin today and most include work placements. It is intended that the training will hone the skills of former employees to enable them to take up employment opportunities in other specialist call centres around the country and in other sectors in the south-east region.

Skillnets says it hopes that work placements in call centre companies such as Taxback.com, UPC and VHI Kilkenny will lead to job offers in the near future.

Training programmes are also being offered in entrepreneurship and business skills for people interested in pursuing careers in alternative fields.

The programmes are being delivered by two of Skillnets’ training networks: the CCMA Ireland Skillnet and Waterford Chamber Skillnet.
