CUSTOMS OFFICIALS have seized firearms and illegal drugs during a raid at Dublin Port this afternoon.
Three firearms – two of which were loaded – and 1.5kg of cannabis were seized from an unspecified vehicle in the operation carried out by the Revenue Commissioners’ customs service, assisted by Dublin Port security.
A quantity of ammunition was also uncovered.
All of the contraband material was “deeply concealed” within the vehicle, a Revenue spokesperson said. The vehicle was also seized.
The firearms – which include Glock and Sig guns, and .38 ammunition – are currently undergoing forensic analysis.
Follow-up enquiries are being conducted by Gardaí at Store Street, and investigations are ongoing.
There were no details of any arrests.
