Gardaí seize cannabis plants worth €200,000 in Mayo

A man in his 50s has been arrested in connection with the seizure.

GARDAÍ HAVE ARRESTED a man after discovering a grow house with an estimated €200,000-worth of cannabis plants in The Neale, Ballinrobe, Co Mayo.

Yesterday, as part of an on-going operation in the Mayo area, gardaí in Castlebar working with the Divisional Drugs Unit, carried out a search at a house in the Ballinrobe area of Co Mayo.

They discovered 261 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, and recovered various items of drugs paraphernalia.

A man in his 50s was arrested at the scene and is currently detained at Castlebar Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
