TAXI APP HAILO are offering people free lifts to polling centres next Friday, when the referendums on same-sex marriage and reducing the presidential age will take place.
In a statement released today, the company said they will be campaigning for the next week in bid to get more people to vote.
To avail of the free taxi, passengers have to use the Hailo Prebook feature between 11am and 4pm on 22 May.
Tim Arnold, Hailo’s General Manager, said the company is supporting a Yes vote, but noted they want “everyone to get out and vote”, adding: “What better way to encourage them, than to give them a lift there?”
“Hailo’s message is – get out and vote. Turnout for previous referendums has struggled to get past 50%. This is an issue of huge importance to Ireland and we want to help our passengers get their chance to cast their vote,” Arnold said.
