Heavy congestion on M50 due to bin lorry fire

The incident is on the M50 Northbound Between J7 Lucan and J6 Blanchardstown.

THE M50 MOTORWAY is heavily congested after a bin lorry fire caused temporary closures in both directions.

Four fire engines are attempting to extinguish the fire on the M50 Northbound Between J7 Lucan and J6 Blanchardstown.

In a post shared online, Dublin Fire Brigade said a foam tender and emergency tender are also attending the scene.

“Firefighters are currently responding to a waste truck fire Northbound on J7 Lucan”, it said on X.

Around 6pm, Transport Infrastructure Ireland (TII) said all lanes of the impacted M50 area were closed.

TII has since said that lanes two and three have reopened, but warned drivers to expect heavy congestion.

The transport agency had previously reported two separate breakdowns on the M50 which have since been cleared.
