Here is how to completely boss this year's spring clean

You got this.

LIVING AIN’T EASY. And neither is spring cleaning.

But sometimes it just has to be done. And doing it right the first time is the trick. So crack open the windows, get your favourite playlist on and follow the tips below.

1. Preparation is key

Getting your Spring cleaning started can be a daunting task, take some time before you begin to get in the mood. Set a realistic goal of how much you want to get done or set yourself a time limit and stick to it.

2. Pace yourself

You don’t have to do the whole house in one go. Start with tidying, then go on to dusting and cleaning then finish with the hoovering, in that order.

3. Don’t underestimate homemade cleaning products

All those sprays and cleaners can be expensive and are often full of chemicals. If you have some baking soda, lemon, vinegar and some old rags then you should be pretty much set up to  clean anything.

4. Get crafty

Are there items in your house that are sitting idle that could be used elsewhere? Do you have unwanted paintings that are in nice frames? Or an old chair that could do with some TLC and a lick of paint? Get creative and save yourself some money at the same time.

5. Learn to let go

If you haven’t used or worn something in a year then it’s time you go your separate ways.

6. Shape up

You should flip your mattress every three months. Flip it over and swap head and foot as well. It will help the mattress to maintain its shape.

7. Curtain call

Don’t forget your curtains need some tending to as well. You should ideally have them cleaned (if dry-cleaning is required) or wash them yourself at least once a year.

8. Sharing is caring

Don’t tackle the entire spring clean overhaul on your own. Enlist your family members or friends to lend a hand and lighten your load.
