IDA IRELAND HAS predicted that job losses will be down by 33 per cent this year as hundreds of new jobs were announced for companies in Dublin and Cork today.
IDA days it won 75 new investments in the first six months of 2011 which it says equates to as many as 4,000 jobs by the end of this year, up 19 per cent on 2010.
The growth in the number of ‘new name’ investors to Ireland was particularly strong, increasing by 40 per cent, with 28 companies deciding to invest in Ireland for the first time, according to IDA.
The new jobs that have been announced today will see American biopharmaceutical company Sangart building a new facility in Carrigtwohill in Co Cork which will create 120 new jobs in the facility and a further 125 employment opportunities during construction.
Whilst in Dublin the insurance giant Allianz is creating 50 new jobs and Dutch company Wolters Kluwer is creating 13 jobs in its financial services business.
It has also been announced that Belgian software company, BSB, which provides software and services to the financial services industry, will create 120 jobs in Dublin.
