Infant boy in critical condition after crash in Co Louth

Three others were brought to hospital for treatment of non life-threatening injures.

AN INFANT BOY is in critical condition after a crash in Dundalk, Co Louth yesterday evening.

The crash occurred between two vehicles at approximately 8:20pm on the R132 at Dowdallshill.

The female driver of the first car, aged in her late 20s, was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda with non life-threatening injuries.

The passenger of the car, the infant boy, was brought to the Children’s University Hospital where he remains in critical condition.

The male driver of the second vehicle, who is aged in his early 50s, and a female teenage passengers were brought to hospital with non life-threatening injuries.

A garda spokesperson said: “The N52 at the scene is currently closed for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions in place.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
