Garda investigation after man dies in two-car collision

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision.

GARDAÍ IN CARBURY are investigating a two-vehicle fatal road traffic collision in which a man died yesterday.

The collision occurred on the M4 East bound near Broadford, Kinnegad at approximately 9.50pm on 24 January. Gardaí said that a male in his late 40s was fatally injured when the car he was driving was in a collision with a second car. He was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of this car.

The sole occupant of the second car, a male in his 20s, was taken to Connolly Hospital in Blanchardstown with injuries described as ‘not life-threatening’.

This stretch of road was closed for a time to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators but has since reopened.

Gardaí wish to appeal for witnesses to this collision that may have been travelling on the M4 Eastbound between the junctions for Enfield and Kinnegad near the entrance to the motorway service area around 9.50pm last night to contact Lexlip Garda Station on 01 6667800, the Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
