Orla Comerford makes it two gold medals for Team Ireland at World Para Athletics Championships

Dubliner sets championship record in women’s 100m T13 final as Greta Streimikyte triumphs in 1500m.

ORLA COMERFORD MADE it two gold medals in one day for Team Ireland at the World Para Athletics Championships in India.

Following on from Greta Streimikyte claiming first place in the women’s 1500m T13, Comerford clocked a championship record time of 11.88 seconds in the 100m T13 final.

The 28-year-old Dubliner was only just shy of her own personal best as she held off Brazil’s Rayane Soares Da Silva in second place and the USA’s Kym Crosby in third.

Earlier, three three-time Paralympian Streimikyte posted a time of 4:39.62 to ensure the 30-year-old was first home in the 1500m.

Lana Sutton qualified for the T38 100m final, finishing in fourth place in her heat in a time of 13.01.
