Female pedestrian (74) dies after collision involving car

The collision occurred yesterday evening.

A FEMALE PEDESTRIAN in her 70s has died after a collision with a car in Co Leitrim.

Gardaí are investigating the fatal collision, which occurred yesterday at Acres, Drumshambo, Co Leitrim at approximately 7.15pm.

The car collided with the female pedestrian (74) on the Carrick on Shannon road out of Drumshambo (R207). She was fatally injured and pronounced dead at the scene.

Her body has been removed to the morgue at Sligo General Hospital.

The female driver, aged 50, was uninjured. There was no passenger in the car.

The road was closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination but has since reopened.
