Two truck drivers appear in court over M1 fuel protest

Aaron Goss and Ryan Quinn are accused of dangerous driving during a slow-moving fuel protest.

TWO TRUCK DRIVERS accused of dangerous driving during a slow-moving fuel protest on the M1 yesterday evening have appeared before Drogheda District Court.

Aaron Goss (22) from Ballymakellett, Ravensdale, Dundalk and Ryan Quinn (29) of Dobbin Road, Richill, County Armagh are charged with dangerous driving on the M1 at Braganstown, Castlebellingham on 13 April.

Inspector Kevin Toner of Drogheda Garda Station who gave evidence of arresting the accused at 7pm told Judge Nicola Andrews that gardaí had been called to an incident on the motorway of alleged dangerous driving at Braganstown of such a manner that it “caused a danger to other road users”.

He added there was no garda objection to bail subject to conditions including that the defendants commit “no further offence”.

After the Defence solicitor Paddy Goodwin replied: “There’s no problem with that”.

Judge Andrews remanded both men on bail on their own bond of €300 to appear before Drogheda District Court on 11 May

As part of his bail, Ryan Quinn must stay out of County Louth apart from for court appearances.

Judge Andrews warned if he breaches his bail terms, “I will revoke your bail”.
