Gardaí searched a property in Santry and arrested the man this morning.

LAST UPDATE | 10 Mar

A MAN IN his twenties has been arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into an alleged assault and suspicious approaches to children in the Dublin 3 area.

An Garda Síochána members from the Divisional Protective Services Unit, DMR North, Clontarf and Santry searched a property in Santry and arrested the man this morning.

The man is understood to be living in the north Dublin town but that the offences are across a wide area of Dublin. It is understood that gardaí are investigating a large volume of complaints from children and concerned adults.

It is believed the man was using a bicycle to get around and at least one of the offences involved an alleged assault of an eight-year-old girl.

“He is currently being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the Dublin Metropolitan Region. Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson said.

With additional reporting from Niall O’Connor.
