Man (60s) dies following two-vehicle collision in Co Wexford

A man aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act.

A MAN IN his 60s has died following a road traffic collision near Drinagh in Co Wexford. 

Gardaí said the collision, involving a passenger van and a jeep, happened on the N25 at Ballykelly at around 1.10am this morning.

The man, who was the driver of the van, was pronounced dead at the scene. His body has been taken to the morgue at Wexford General Hospital where a post-mortem examination is due to take place.

A passenger in one of the vehicles was brought to Wexford General Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

A man aged in his 40s was arrested at the scene on suspicion of offences under the Road Traffic Act. He is currently detained at a Wexford garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.

The road is closed and the scene has been preserved pending a technical examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to contact them.

They are particularly appealing to any road users who may have camera footage, including dash-cam footage, and were travelling on the N25 between 12.30am and 1.30am this morning to make this footage available to them.
