Man being held following multi-million euro drug seizure in Dublin

Drugs with an estimated street value of €3.5m were discovered in the search at Coolock, Dublin, yesterday.

GARDAÍ ARE CONTINUING to hold a man in connection with the major seizure of cannabis worth €3.5 million yesterday.

A man in his 20s was arrested following a joint garda national drugs unit and Revenue Customs operation in which 400kgs of cannabis resin, 50kgs of cannabis herb and 8kgs of tablets were seized.

Gardaí said the seizure was an intelligence led operation and that the drugs were ready for distribution by criminal gangs.

The drugs have an estimated street value of €3.5m and were discovered during the search of a premises near Malahide Road in Coolock, Co Dublin.

The man is being held at Santry garda station under section 2 of the Criminal Justice Act. He can be questioned for up to week.
