Armed gardaí arrest man after armed robbery in Tipperary

The man brandished and pointed the handgun at gardaí.

A MAN HAS been arrested after an armed robbery at a service station in Clonmel.

The suspect left the petrol station at Greenane on foot at around 4:30am this morning.

Gardaí were alerted to the robbery and found the man as he was approaching Clonmel town centre.

The man brandished and pointed the handgun at gardaí who kept him under observation and cleared the area.

Armed Gardaí then arrived at the scene, confronted the suspect and arrested him.

He’s currently being held at Clonmel Garda Station under Section 30 Offences Against the State Act.

Nobody was injured during the incident.

Gardaí say that investigations are continuing.
