Garda investigation launched after man (80s) found dead on a road in Co Sligo last night

The man’s body was discovered shortly after 11pm last night.

A GARDA INVESTIGATION is underway after a man’s body was discovered on a road in the west of Sligo last night.

The body was discovered shortly after 11pm on Church Lane in the town of Enniscrone.

Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene, where the man was pronounced dead a short time later.

A post-mortem examination is due to take place, and gardaí have appealed for any potential witnesses to come forward, particularly any road users who were in the area between 10.00pm and 11.15pm.

“Anyone with any information is asked to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 9157000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station,” a spokesperson said.
