A 27-YEAR-OLD MAN has been charged with rape after a girl was sexually assaulted twice in one night at a west England train station.
A 14-year-old girl was sexually assaulted at Witton station in Birmingham last Tuesday night. She then flagged down a car, and was sexually assaulted again by a second man.
Khurram Rahi of Rosefield Road, Smethwick was arrested yesterday morning, the British Transport Police said, in connection with the first sexual assault.
DCI Tony Fitzpatrick said they were satisfied that they were in a position to press charges in a case that had “gained national interest”, and thanked the public for their assistance.
The man who’s been charged will appear at Birmingham Magistrates’ court tomorrow morning.
A second man, aged 35, was also arrested and has been released without charge.
The police are still appealing for information on the second man involved in the attack, which occurred close to 2am.
“The victim flagged down a vehicle for help, a man then raped her,” Fitzpatrick said.
The second man is described as thick-set Asian man, approximately 5 foot 6 inches tall, “with large biceps”, according to police.
