Man (70s) dies following early morning house fire in Waterford

The fire was brought under control by local fire services.

A MAN IN his 70s has died following a house fire in Waterford this morning.

Shortly before 5am, gardaí attended the scene of a house fire at Ballytruckle Court in Waterford City. 

The fire was brought under control by local fire services.

A man in his 70s died and his body was removed from the house and taken to Waterford University Hospital. A post-mortem examination will be carried out. 

Foul play is not suspected at this time, according to gardaí.
