A 37-YEAR-OLD man has died after a car he was a passenger in crashed into a lake in the early hours of this morning.
The woman driver of the car, 34, escaped unharmed after the car left the road and went into the water at Grange Lake in Strokestown, Co Roscommon just after midnight.
Gardaí from Boyle are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.
It is understood the woman managed to escape from the vehicle after it went into the lake and alerted local residents who managed to remove the man, but they were unable to resuscitate him and he was later pronounced dead.
His body has been taken to Roscommon General Hospital where a post mortem will take place.
