Man in his 60s killed in two-car Mullingar collision

The man was the only occupant of his car; the driver of the other car and three children were taken to hospital.

A MAN in his 60s has been killed, and a woman and three children injured, following a collision outside Mullingar this afternoon.

The collision between the two cars, on the N4 bypassing the town at Cullionmore, occurred at around 1pm this afternoon.

The deceased man was the only occupant of his car; the female driver of the other car, and three boys travelling with her, were taken to Midland Regional Hospital.

Their injuries are described as not being serious.

The road is closed to facilitate a forensic examination, and diversions are in place.
