Young woman killed after car hits truck in Mayo
The crash happened on the main Westport to Castlebar road this morning.
A YOUNG WOMAN has died after the car she was travelling in collided with a truck on the main Westport to Castlebar Road in Mayo this morning.
The woman, 24, was travelling with a man, 33, when the crash happened at Sheeaune near Westport just after 9am this morning.
She was pronounced dead at the scene while the man, who was driving the car, was taken to Mayo General Hospital. His injuries are described as non-life threatening while the driver of the truck was not injured.
The section N5 road has been closed for a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
