McDermott looks forward to qualifiers after Munster final defeat

Micheál McDermott says that his side gave everything they possibly could against Cork on Sunday.

THEY TRAVELLED IN the hope of recreating their famous Munster final triumph of 1992 at the Limerick venue but ultimately the Gaelic Grounds was an unhappy hunting ground for the Clare footballers today.

The match was a huge occasion for the Banner men who have not featured in a provincial senior football final since 2000 and have been plying their trade in Division 4 in recent years.

They battled bravely but were undone by the concession of three first-half goals as Cork pulled clear on the scoreboard.

There is still much for Micheal McDermott’s to build on as they prepare for a round four All-Ireland qualifier tie last this month. Here’s what Cavan native McDermott thought about the game when speaking to TV3 in the aftermath of the clash.
