GARDAÍ HAVE ISSUED a renewed appeal for information as part of their investigation into the suspected murder of Michael Gannon at his home in Skerries last night.

The 55-year-old man, originally from Finglas, had been babysitting his two grandchildren at his home in Mourne Park when he answered the front door and was attacked and stabbed to death.

A man in his 20s is being questioned in connection with the investigation following his arrest earlier.

In a renewed appeal for information tonight, gardaí in Balbriggan are seeking information from anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area between 5pm and 6pm yesterday to contact them.

Gardaí can be reached on 01 802 0511, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
