Four men arrested after gardaí seize €1.2 million in cash

IN THE REGION of €1.2 million in cash was seized by gardaí after searches in Wexford and Dublin today.
The operation was part of an investigation into organised crime.
At approximately 10.45am, officers from the National Drugs and Organised Crime Bureau stopped two vehicles off the Clonard Road in Wexford town.
Further searches in Dublin were carried out, resulting in “a very significant sum of cash” being seized.
Four men, aged 47, 44, 38 and 29, were arrested on suspicion of money laundering offences and are currently being detained at Wexford Garda Station under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984.
Speaking about the searches, Assistant Commissioner John O’Driscoll, who is head of Special Crime Operations, said: “Depriving organised crime groups of the proceeds of their criminal activity is a particular priority for the Garda Síochána.”
