Here are 10 photographs in the running for the 2016 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the Year contest.
TRAVELLING AROUND THE world is something many people dream of and these photographs may inspire you to make it a reality.
The 2016 National Geographic Travel Photographer of the year contest is almost finished.
The magazine has been asking readers to enter their snaps that capture the world’s people, places and cultures.
There is still time to get your images in as entries for the competition are being accepted until tomorrow.
The winner will receive a seven-day polar bear photo safari for two at Churchill Wild –Seal River Heritage lodge in Canada, one of National Geographic’s unique lodges of the world.
Here are some of our early favourites.
First Light – Two Medicine Lake

“We drove early morning from St. Mary’s Lodge to see the sunrise at Two Medicine lake in Glacier National Park. There were no clouds but the lake water was so calm, it created perfect reflection of the red light kissing the Sinopah Mountain. As there was no wind in the morning, the colourful rocks in the foreground were visible.”

“One of a series of aerial shots taken from a helicopter over the fabulous river deltas in South Iceland. This one depicts the end of the journey for one river as it winds its way to the ocean. The brilliant colours are a result of mineral deposits picked up by the glacial waters. We were lucky to shoot on a gorgeously sunny day which really brought out the colours.”

“As I was walking through the streets of Havana I came across this house that looked more like a museum than a regular home. As Cubans are always welcoming to guests I decided to take a peak inside, only to find out that this was actually a home containing collectible items from vinyl records to a large scale American flag, then to this wall of icons; decorated with a Cuban flag, revolutionary fighters, and past and present Cuban leaders.”
