• A postmistress working at an isolated An Post post office in west Clare “was violently and viciously assaulted” by two men armed with metal bars on Wednesday afternoon, it is alleged.
• An outbreak of bluetongue was confirmed in a herd of cattle in Co Wexford. 
• Renowned journalist Paddy Clancy, whose career spanned more than six decades, died at the age of 82.
• Gardaí arrested and charged two men after searches led to the discovery of €660,000 worth of cannabis in Cork city.
• Sinn Féin’s spokesperson on Agriculture, TD Martin Kenny, urged Agriculture Minister Martin Heydon to remove Bord Bia chief Larry Murrin from his position over his importation of Brazilian beef.

#MINNEAPOLIS: A man was shot dead by federal agents in the US city of Minneapolis, the Department of Homeland Security confirmed.

#MORE TARIFFS: US President Donald Trump threatened Canada with a 100% tariff if its Prime Minister Mark Carney proceeds with a trade deal with China.

#UKRAINE: Ukraine condemned Russia for overnight strikes on the country that killed at least one person and injured 27.

“There’s a mix of young and old people, people from different backgrounds, and people who may have never danced before,” Caoimhe Ní Mhaolagáin, a musician and dancer from Dublin, told us during a chat in the backroom of The Cobblestone.
