GARDAÍ ARE INVESTIGATING after an off-duty garda was injured in an assault in Dublin this evening.
The assault happened shortly before 6pm on Royal Canal Bank in Phibsborough, Dublin 7.
It’s understood the off-duty garda, a man aged in his 20s, was attempting to break up a fight when he was assaulted.
He was taken to the Mater Hospital for an assessment of non-life-threatening injuries.
A garda spokesperson said that welfare supports have been made available to the Garda by local management.
Investigations are ongoing.
