Over 1.4m visits in first six months of the year to museums and galleries

LAST YEAR the National Gallery of Ireland received more visits per head of population than the Louvre in Paris. Similarly, the National Museum of Ireland was proportionally more popular with visitors than the British Museum in London. There were 1.4m visits to galleries and museums in the first six months of 2010.
