Pedestrian killed in late-night Monaghan car crash

A man in his 30s dies after being struck by a car shortly before midnight last night.

A MAN IN his 30s has been killed following a late-night road accident in Co Monaghan.

The man was struck by a car on the R183 between Castleblyaney and Ballybay Road at around 11:40pm and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, a man in his 20s, was brought to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda.

The scene remains sealed off pending a forensic examination.
