Police seize £75,000 worth of drugs in Lurgan

A 38-year-old male has been arrested following a seizure of a large amount mephadrone and other controlled substances in Co Armagh.

A MAN HAS been arrested in Lurgan, Co Armagh, following the seizure of mephedrone and other suspected controlled drugs.

The drugs were seized during a search of a house in the Stevenson Terrace area of Lurgan on Tuesday.

“We are constantly working to remove illegal drugs from circulation and this seizure will prevent these drugs from harming a large number of people in our society,” Detective Chief Inspector Stephen Wright said in relation to the haul.

He added: “With support and information from the community we will continue to conduct searches, make seizures and interrupt and stop this criminal activity.”

Police say the man is currently assisting them with their enquiries, and ask anyone with information or concerns about illegal drugs to contact them on 0845 600 8000.
