A SECTION OF the draft programme for government leaked last week proposes linking child benefit and school attendance.

The relevant section says that this would address the “poor attendance within some families”.

When contacted by TheJournal.ie, the Department of Social Protection declined to comment as the final programme for government is yet to be published.

Poll Results:

Yes (14926)
No (3959)
Not sure   (1086)
