Hello in Irish Shutterstock

Poll: Should teachers who pass Irish tests get paid more?

The move would financially incentivise teachers to improve their Irish.

THE GOVERNMENT IS planning to increase the pay of teachers who pass certain Irish tests.

The move, reported by the Irish Times, is said to be aimed at improving the language proficiency of staff and students, as many who enter teacher training colleges have a poor level of Irish.

The tests would be voluntary, but with a financial incentive, the sum of which is not yet known.

So, today we’re asking you: Should teachers who pass Irish tests get paid more?

Poll Results:

No (6610)
Yes (4614)
Not sure (637)
