A NEW STUDY has found definitive evidence that taking extra vitamin D protects against colds, flu and other respiratory infections.
The study by Queen Mary University of London found that the results were stronger for people with very low levels of the nutrient and could reduce deaths and healthcare costs.
Vitamin D can be found in some foods but people who live in grey, cloudy climates often do not have enough.
The study was published in the British Medical Journal and argued that vitamin D should be added to food. Some milks are already fortified with vitamin D.
